Now, Do people still listen to the radio? Yes
Do they admit it more than they’d like? No
So let’s give radio listeners what they want to listen to– and that includes less boring ads! Because while your ad spot might be for 15 seconds or 30 seconds, you have SECONDS to engage with your audience before your ad becomes background noise (or worse, they change the station).
Here’s some quick tips to get you started:
- Jingles work! Don’t know what a jingle is? Ask your parents haha. They’ll probably still be able to recite all their favorite ads from back in the day. Music/jingles and radio ads have gone together since the old days. They work, and the good ones are highly memorable.
- LESS IS MORE! Sense a repetitive pattern here? Stop cramming every possible bit of information into your 15 second or 30-second ads. Trust that your audience will hear the right information and follow-up without blasting them with an ad that’s too busy or annoying.
- And don’t be afraid to NOT give people your phone number in your ads. Ask customers to visit your website or social media pages for more information. People will have a better time remembering your website or at least the name of your company better than they’ll ever be able to recite your phone number.
